With innovative launches seen in the seniors and infant categories, it is clear that dairy proteins hold strong potential for targeting different consumer groups.

03 Apr 2017 --- The application of bulk sweeteners across food & beverage launches has grown steadily in the last few years and features a positive average annual growth (CAGR 2012-2016), highlighting potential for further NPD using such ingredients. Sorbitol is applied in 7 out of 10 food & beverage launches tracked using bulk sweeteners. Maltitol and xylitol are the second and third most used bulk sweeteners, well behind sorbitol. From 2012-2016, polyglycitolsyrup features the highest CAGR (+18.2%) among all bulk sweeteners. Therefore more new product launches featuring this sweetener are expected.

16 May 2018 --- Frutarom’s President of Natural Solutions is confident for the future of his business unit following Frutarom’s US$7.1 billion acquisition by International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF). Speaking with FoodIngredientsFirst at Vitafoods Europe in Geneva, Yoni Glickman says: “It is clear from conversations and public statements that IFF is very interested in our Natural Solutions business and specifically our health & nutrition business. It gives them another opportunity to grow and expand into an area where a lot of consumers are enthused by. Our ability to deliver natural concepts for taste & health; whether active ingredients, natural flavors or natural colors all together in new delivery systems is an advantage for us.”

27 Jun 2017 --- High protein formulations and targeted, highly functional ingredients continue to be a global trend. Ingredia continues to innovate to meet these market demands for the aging population. At VitaFoods, Ingredia presented their PRODIET Hydrolysate S 25 is a whey protein hydrolysate with a hydrolysis degree of 25%. According to Aude Ragot, “PRODIET Hydrolysate S 25 will trigger muscle synthesis in the elderly, thanks to the high content of leucine and its fast assimilation.” Also being presented at the show was PRODIET Fluid is native micellar casein which contains more than 87% protein on dry matter. Micellar caseins are slowly digested proteins, up to 7 hours after ingestion for the aging population. This makes it efficient to reduce night fasting period thanks to the slow amino acid release.
